High Gain Heroes - The Latest Neuro Preset Pack

High Gain Heroes - The Latest Neuro Preset Pack
Dec 9, 2025

It's about to get very loud in here. We just dropped a brand-new Neuro Preset Pack for you called "High Gain Heroes," a fierce and unapologetic collection of 17 high-gain presets pulled from a variety of Source Audio pedals. If you want to hear the entire preset pack, go the Neuro 3 Editor.

Here are just a few highlights from this fuzz fueled collection...

1. "75 Rams Head" for the Kingmaker Fuzz (& L.A. Lady Overdrive) - Created by jshimchi: Killer preset! This one uses the "Bigger Pi" distortion engine, which was originally inspired by the Skreddy Mayonaise pedal, itself inspired by the EHX Triangle Knob Big Muff Pi—a four-transistor silicon version of the Muff released around 1971. The Bigger Pi engine blends creamy sustain with greater clarity and articulation, giving players huge, soaring leads without excessive compression or booming low end.

That said, this preset uses Bigger Pi as its base engine, but with Neuro’s parametric equalizer, the preset creator boosted the low end and treble frequencies to get something closer to a Ram’s Head Big Muff, known for its beefier low end, mid scoop, and rounded top end. It’s got a great violin-like sustain for leads.

2. "uprising-Ultra" for the Spectrum Intelligent Filter - Created by ultrakcy: A filter pedal that does fuzz? Absolutely! The Spectrum delivers some fantastic overdrive tones that blend seamlessly with its filter and octave effects. This preset was inspired by the song “Uprising” by Muse. The song is built around a galloping riff with a massive octave-fuzz. For this preset a snarling Gated Fuzz and two parallel octave voices team up to create a thick, muscular wall of sound.

3. "Clear Fold" for the Ultrawave - Created by do_noise: I've said it before, I'll say it again, "nothing sounds like the Ultrawave!" This retro-futuristic preset taps into the Ultrawave’s foldback distortion capabilities and its powerful multi-band processing. Multi-band processing is one of the Ultrawave’s signature features. Basically it splits your signal into ten separate frequency bands and runs each one through its own overdrive or fuzz stage, resulting in a tone that is both incredibly thick and remarkably articulate.

For this preset, do_noise used one of the Foldback distortion engines to create a highly responsive overdrive that borders on synth-like textures. Foldback distortion is commonly associated with analog synthesizers, and it behaves differently than standard clipping. Instead of simply chopping off the peaks of the waveform, the signal folds back toward the center once it reaches the clipping threshold. This unique wave-shaping effect doubles the waveform’s frequency, producing a soaring octave-like character. The result is a lead tone unlike anything else.
