Johnny Hiland

Source Audio's CEO Ray Maxwell has been friends with the great Johnny Hiland for a long, long time. If you haven't heard the unforgettable guitar playing of this man, you need to drop what you're doing and open your ears to the sound of this honkytonk wrecking machine. The minute Johnny walked into the town of Nashville, his high-octane approach to country chicken pickin' knocked the town’s intensely competitive music scene on its tail. His approach to six-string bridges the gap between Eddie Van Halen and Chet Atkins. Ricky Skaggs once called him, "the most versatile guitar player I've ever heard." He has shared stages with artists as far ranging as Toby Keith, Steve Vai, Joe Banamasa, George Clinton, and Brent Mason.

Along with his endless list of credits as a Nashville session player, Johnny has recorded several scorching solo records. He first signed with Steve Vai's Favored Nations label in 2004 and released his critically acclaimed self-titled debut, followed quickly by the red-hot sophomore release, All Fired Up. Check out the record's fantastic opening track, "Barnyard Breakdown" for a quick taste of Johnny's six-string prowess.

Of course, we couldn't be more honored to include Johnny in our Source Audio Artist Gallery. Johnny has not only championed Source Audio pedals, he also made three KILLER demos for our Nemesis Delay, True Spring Reverb, and Kingmaker Fuzz.
